Do you want to use your financial skills in a leading consulting group working for tomorrow's sustainable societies? Can you build and hold the overall responsibility of project controlling? And are you a dedicated finance person with strong interpersonal skills?


We are now looking for a Lead Project Controller to support and front the project organization. As a Lead Project Controller, you hold the overall responsibility of project controlling within the Business Unit. You will front the business together with the Business Controller and there will be close collaboration with dedicated Project Controllers in both Norway and Lithuania.

Furthermore, you hold a holistic overview of the project portfolio in the Business Unit. A large part of the role is also to support COWI’s continuous journey in finance excellence and establish best practices in project controlling and project business partnering.

Your day-to-day tasks typically include :

  • Effective project controlling - Risk / opportunity management of the portfolios, explanations / commentary on deviations
  • Support and challenge Project Managers & Portfolio Managers - Project reviews, and Steering committee meetings
  • Commercial terms review - Margins & risk / Cashflow optimisation
  • Efficient project administration - Cost to complete, provisions etc.
  • Various BU project analysis (EBIT, budget changes, cash, customers)


To succeed in this position, we believe that you should be a team player with strong integrity. You have a clear analytical skillset and an understanding of how to divide problems into relevant parts, securing quality in the details while keeping the overview of the project portfolios.

You communicate your findings in a convincing way, and interact with ease across management, project management and steering group levels. Strong interpersonal skills will be crucial to become a trusted advisor for the business.

You take ownership and get things done.

You also have

  • A degree on master level in business administration or economics
  • Newly graduated or 1-5 years relevant experience
  • Experience in Finance from a large consulting firm would be an advantage (but not a precondition)
  • Willingness to learn the fundamentals of project controlling
  • An ability to strike the balance between the partnering role and ensuring compliance with accounting controls
  • Super user in Excel
  • It is a clear advantage with strong language skills in both Norwegian and English (both verbal and written).
